Spirit of a capella singing.

Three female singers meet in the vocal traditional music of Scandinavia and the North Sea Area. Dark and elegant songs and tunes in personal arrangements that bring out improvisation and individual expression. With great passion they tell stories that are just as modern today as they were centuries ago. Irmelin consists of the singers Eva Rune, Maria Misgeld and Karin Ericsson Back.
New album with songs from North Sea Area is released in 2013.

IRMELIN has performed live several times on Swedish television and radio and they often performs in spectacular contexts, especially with their unique polyphonic "kulning" – herding calls. They have also recorded soundtracks for the Swedish University College of Film, Radio, Television and Theatre and worked as theatre musicians.

IRMELIN members are also experienced teachers and give workshops in folk singing, kulning and diddling/mouth music.

Briliant review from New York

"These three ladies are capable of grabbing any note out of thin air and add harmonies that emulate the experience of floating in the clouds and nail the dissonances that keep you on the edge of your seat, then resolve it all back to a euphoric state. With creation of rhythmic harmonic foundations and answer and question style melodies their voices fill the room with comforting and enjoyable sounds."
– Review by Peter Schwingle from New York, January 2012
